Subject: IVP Aileron Bellcrank Pressure Box and Fuse Reinforce details

We are building a IVP down under and are looking for some supporting information. The Chapter 17 of the manual refers to “fuselage side reinforcement”. The inference is that in some of the early build fuselages there was a need to reinforce the area around the aileron bellcrank pressure box region due to excessive flexing around the door frame area. We assume that this was around the split line in the fuselage at the top of the box.

The manual states that later build fuselages were factory reinforced, and refers to figures that show the reinforcing areas. Those figures have been deleted from the manuals we have. (17:E:1  and 17:E:2).

We are trying to determine if we have a fuselage which has been modified. Does anyone have those figures or know what the reinforcing was that was done for the early fuselages.

We have spoken to Lancair and unfortunately they cannot locate the pictures that were deleted from the manual. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone have easy access to measure the location of the bellcrank pivot and torque tube in the pressure box. The Lancair instructions say that the box comes with the holes predrilled, but that is not the case and Lancair don’t have any measurements.  We can work these out but want to avoid having to fit the wings to do this at this time.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Mike
