Can you comment on what and where the mixture control and throttle takes effect with the OLD and NEW fuel pump?

As I understand it, with the OLD fuel pump the throttle controlled total fuel flow through the pump but the mixture controlled what went to the spider.  So therefore WOT + cut-off meant max fuel from the tanks, through the pump and back to the tanks via the vapor return.   Do I have that right?   

So what is happening with the new fuel pump?

Also do you know roughly when the NEW fuel pump started manufacture?

My engine is a 1995 tsio-550B and seems to work with the WOT + cutoff method.

1. Wide open throttle, mixture full rich and high boost on for a few seconds.  Just long enough to fill the lines with fuel. If fuel runs out the sniffle valve the high boost was on too long.
2. Leave throttle near wide open and pull mixture to idle cut off.
3. Turn low boost on and immediately start cranking engine while pushing in the mixture knob slowing until engine fires.
Be prepared to retard the throttle as the engine speed will go quite high if you get a clean start.  Leave the low boost on for several minutes and control idle quality with the mixture knob. Once the idle quality is good, the low boost electric fuel pump can be turned off.
 
You can NOT use the “old” method of WOT, mixture at idle cut off and run the high boost electric pump for 30 seconds. The new Continental fuel pumps will allow a LOT of fuel to flow at cranking speeds and the mixture in idle cut off.  I guess you can use this method if you want 2 gallons of 100LL under the plane.  I’m guessing it was about 2 gallons I mopped up.
