Angier and others -

In my response yesterday concerning my oil cooler
installation, I should have included my method of mounting
the oil cooler to the firewall. I used short lengths of 1" x 1"
angle aluminum (available from any hardware store).
By the way, you should also be using longer lengths of
this angle to clamp the trailing edges of control surfaces
when bonding (gluing) them to ensure straightness.
Use ¼" nut plates on the back of firewall for the ¼"
mounting bolts for the oil cooler mounting bracket.
I know that some details are always left out, it's seldom
possible to cover every last detail and besides, each builder
may have his own methods, some of which may be a further
improvement.
I would like later to discuss in detail several
firewall-forward installations, especially air filter and
ram air/filtered air selector installations.

E-mail me for any questions or additional information.
