Rob: I did what you are suggesting at the BL50 rib for the fuel
probe, but I am using the VM probe whose base is a much smaller
diameter. I have two holes in my center section BL50 rib. One is
one-inch in diameter for access to the finger strainer. The other is one
and a half inch diameter for the fuel probe, allowing me to take the
probe out without having to remove the wing. The core of both holes was
filled with micro and the area was covered with generous 2 BID patch.
Incidentally the recommended orientation of the fuel probe per
Figure 9-2 won't allow the probe to be removed. It hits the lower wing
skin near the partial rib. The BL50 probe hole has to be moved about an
inch farther forward, canting the probe line enough that it can be put
in or out easily. Charles
