One request was to make sure that the Lancair "model" be included in the "RE". This is important and helps keep down the confusion. Let's also remember that Lancair 235/320/360 have the greatest variability since these range from kits only containing molded parts to super fast builds, from short engine mounts and small tails to long mounts and/or MKII tails and individual customization. Also note that the Legacy 2000 will have the least variability since the warp speed kits require more fit and finish work than actual customization and construction. In any event, let's not lose our ability to think vertically. Not every builder has a fully equipped machine shop, but we all have minds and muscles. My Pappy always said "Use your head or don't get out of bed". I want to respond to some specific queries and will do so in item specific replies, but first I want to make some general points which we should keep in mind: The best answer to a question comes from experience in the area questioned, conditioned with the environment in which the experience was gained. Something learned years ago with different materials is just worth the lessons learned and may not specifically apply today (See my future e-mail on primer/paint and e-glass). Some simple tools may give a superior result (See my e-mail on Stainless Firewall holes). Some materials are reasonable and appropriate for the task (See my e-mail on Nylaflo and brakes). Every system we work on should be checked for the following: 1) Will this work in a high vibration environment? This pertains to materials (work hardening), fasteners (lock or castle) and routing (no chaffing), etc. 2) Will this work at the temperatures it will see?. Hot (engine compartment) or cold (hi altitude wheel well), etc. 3) Will this work with negative G's? In turbulence or inversion, will loose things block controls, etc. Of course, systems should be checked for things pertinent to the system such as electrical, hydraulic, etc. Scott Krueger Lancair 320 - N92EX Legacy 2000 - Kit #2 Challenger II - N98SK (tube and fabric) EAA Chapter 579 Tech Counselor >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
