If you use the 60 Amp Mitsbishi alternator (not a bad idea, as they are
fairly small), do the math and figure out what the RPM will be at max.
engine speed. The ratio of the Lycoming ring gear diameter to the standard
alternator pulley diameter may result in an alternator over-speed. (On an
automobile, the alternator is usually belted to a much smaller drive pulley,
so even at the (usually) higher engine RPM in a car, the alternator's rotor
turns at a lower RPM than the potential RPM when driven from the Lyc.
ring-gear). While this is not necessarily bad, from an electrical point of
view, you may find the rotor RPM too high for long term mechanical
reliability.

ACS makes a larger diameter alt. pulley for just such conditions.
