I was looking at the underside of my best friend's Gulfstream IVSP the other
day and was amazed to find that the flaps and ailerons had holes drilled in the
bottom skins. I asked the pilot about them and he told me they were for
draining any liquid accumulation. This is a jet that was new in 2000 and
flies mach .81 at FL450- far faster and higher than any of our Lancairs will
ever go- in all kinds of weather. I wonder why we do not do the same thing.
I did not look at the tail feathers but will do so the next time I see it.
