I've got 125 hours flying time on a WLS primer-coated LNC2 and it is time for me to contemplate paint materials, processes, etc. I especially would like to know what materials stick hard and resist scratching--and perhaps even more importantly, what paint types best accommodate touch up/repaint. I intend to do the primary coats and colors myself and later have professionals add their more complex airbrush art to my high-gloss paint. So, who among us have a success story in painting his airplane? Who among us is willing to say that he should have done something different because of poor results, too much work, too expensive, etc. A few words of advise to the many of us who have yet to paint might save us hundreds, even thousands of hours and perhaps a lot of tears and expense. Alternatively, does anyone of know of a good way to get a short course (video or book) in aircraft painting using the latest materials and procedures? (The video, "Aircraft Painting 101" on Marv's bookstore web site looks promising but has anyone reviewed it?)
