I eliminated the two flap relays and magnetic limit switches. Instead I
used two diodes and two microswitches to accomplish the same thing. The
system uses motor braking so that the flaps do not coast. The result is a
lighter and more reliable flap control system for the Lancair. The diodes
must be heavy duty since they provide a direct short across the
motor/generator when the flaps are at the limit.
I will write a short article for the Lancair Network News this week.
