I finished the whole area. This included the final paint job for which I
used Zolatone paint (Trunk paint)
The gear went in and I fitted the doors to ensure a good mate with the
bottom skin. I ran plastic tube up to the gear micro switches from the
close out rib for the wiring. You can prethread the wire or use a leader.
It is easy to glass in the tube but hard to deal with the small gauge wire.
Also watch out for the brake pipe run. I used -3 SS covered teflon down to
the operating cylinders. Heat at the calipers has given problems of
leakage/failure and we steer with the brakes. I brought the hose up to a
hard point in the half rib in the stub wing. From there I used the Lancair
supplied plastic pipe.
Do everything you can, it's much easier than lying on your back trying to do
it.
I still have some minor things to do but I figure I have broken the back of
the work. Incidentally Zolatone paint really covers up minor imperfections.
Good luck
Ian Crowe.
