Dear Dan, I'm not sure what you mean by deciding "against the hinge method". If you mean you won't have the cowling open on a hinge, I'd have to agree with you. If you mean you won't use hinges to secure the cowling with a removable pin, I'd suggest you reconsider. Take a look at the Carbinge if you haven't seen it already. It's a graphite hinge that you can bond right on to the cowling - It's strong, lightweight, only needs one rivet or bolt at each end and when you bond it to the cowling, the result is a stronger cowl. Also, you don't have any fasteners that interrupt the nice paint job and body work. This is shameless commerce, I know, since I make these things, but I've got em throughout my L IVP and so feel comfortable recommending them. Take a look at the website. http://www.olympus.net/personal/2thman/carbinge1.htm Regards, John Barrett >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
