Scott :I ask that Question of Orin Riddel at Lancair and he told me to
use two washers on the bottom lord mounts.I DID NOT shim the mount at
the firwall. In my case I had added the longer engine mount and had set
the new cowling a bit lower(about a quarter inch)I was told the mounts
would sag the most after installation. The quarter inch and two bottom
washers worked out perfect for me.I have about one eighth inch left for
any future settling of the mounts. If your cowling has been fitted for
the hard mounts I would shim up or down between engine and the dynafocal
mount as needed to acheive those tolerances.Use the big area washers
that come with oldLord mounts. You may have to order up a couple more.I
must say again I am amazed at the improvement this one change has made
in my 360.It is SMOOTH >I go Friday for a prop balancing session.I,ll
report on that later.
