As an FYI, here in California the EPA was very busy early on pushing to
get MTBE added to automotive fuel. This of course increased the per
gallon cost, as the refineries (of course) claimed that it cost more.
Well a few years down the road and guess what? They are finding MTBE
in many drinking water sources above and underground. Now the EPA
says the refineries MUST remove MTBE. And the refineries are now
saying... yup, it'll cost more to take it out. Thank God there are
so many government agencies taking care of us ignorant folks!!!!
