At my IA seminar last weekend the subject of that engine came up.  The
Champion rep was speaking.  Lyc. came to them for help when they realized
the problem.  Champion came up with the REM38BY plug.  If you use them you
must clean the klinkers out at 100 hrs, if you make it.  If you do not use
them you won't make 25 hrs.
Lycoming admits they have a funky intake system which precipitates lead onto
the plugs.  100 LL only makes it worse.

ps: fortunately, the lead deposits form at start-up and shut down... mostly.
