I cut off about 1 1/2". I looked at what the height would be with the MAC
grip (estimated) and looked at the difference in height with the infinity
grips, looked like 1.5". Haven't hooked up the ailerons with the fuselage
top on, so I'm not sure of travels etc.
I rewired my grips to have a smaller wire. Used the 5 conductor cable from
MAC. I found that the construction of the hat switch to be incompatible with
it's application. In that the hat switch is intended to be mounted on a
printed circuit card. Connecting wires directly to the terminals results in
the center contact moving out and destroying the switch. Infinity sent a new
switch with no hassles. However in looking at the second grip, they
obviously recognize the problem and the center contact was very tentatively
connected, so much so that the connection hadn't "taken". So I would
recommend that when you have opened your grips to mount them, check the
center contact connections on the hat switches.
