Considering the enormous numbers of autos on the roads (and they have fuel injectors with tiny little nozzles), I haven't seen any puked on the side of the road due to gasoline problems. I burn Amoco gasoline. Amoco has heavily advertised the "crystal clear purity" of their 93 octane "Ultimate" for several years and I don't think that a multi-billion dollar business is lying and making false claims. There was a problem with metal underground storage tanks leaking (both at airports and auto filling stations), but they've all been replaced with fiberglass tanks. Is 100 LL run exclusively through transmission lines dedicated to 100 LL? Actually, one of the primary problems now with manufacturing and transporting 100 LL is that it's lead contaminates the system. When you buy auto gas for your car, you're paying about 50 cents/gallon for road building and repair taxes that you shouldn't have to pay it if it's used in an airplane, but there's no way that government is going to let auto gas be sold for 50 cents/gallon less at airports. A good approach would be to use that 50 cents/gallon toward drawing gasoline intended for airports from production known and tested for purity.
