I am constantly amazed at the depth and level of perception of Brent Regan.
His comments about MoGas being the dumping ground of the refining industry
are right on.

As a chemist, I can tell you that he is absolutely correct in his analysis.
And, as he says, the pipeline itself is another contamination contributor.

Ever wonder where the water came from that puked your automobile last winter?
It came from the pipeline,  as did  the diesel fuel and home heating fuel
that also contaminates your MoGas. One pipeline is used for all solvents--a
slug of water and a metal 'pig' slides down the pipe to separate types.

Avgas is magnitudes purer than MoGas, and you are paying for the reliability
and safeness that comes with it.

Adding TEL or Tetraethyllead to MoGas is another accident waiting to happen.
And, I am not a fan of adding "Mysterious" Marvel Oil to anything either.  If
it had some benefits, the refiners would have been including it in their
matrix years ago and charging a higher price to us...

Also, the fad use of manganese as an anti-knock agent in MoGas was not one of
my favorite things either.  Current scientific investigation seems to be
bearing this out--it is being listed as an extreme health hazard--well, duh!

I think that the current rise in brain-type diseases such as Lupus and MS may
some day be traced to our spraying  manganese compounds all over creation
thru automobile exhausts--as we did with lead--time will tell.

In any event, spraying Lead all over the bottom of my plane is not my idea of
a favorite thing either, especially when my CO detector shows exhaust gasses
entering the cockpit when I taxi.   But,  at least it seems to be keeping my
engine running for now...but what are those mysterious dark lines showing up
on the x-rays of my joints?

We should know that each of these chemical solutions  being used to keep our
planes running have their serious physiological side effects--don't spend a
lot of time taxiing if you can avoid it, and forget about MoGas.
