Eric -

This is the question I figured you would eventually answer, but Lycoming's
IO-360-B has an 8.5:1 compression ratio, not 6.5:1.  Is Continental's
different or was this just a typo?  My real question is whether I can run a
Lycoming IO-360-B on the new avgas (82 UL?) or on the present day unleaded
autogas.  Care to comment on the competition's product?

On another topic, I notice a somewhat increased tendency for my Continental
O-200 to pick up carburetor ice when running on autogas rather than avgas
(80/87 or 100LL + Alcor TCP).  Is this something that y'all have observed,
and what about the new avgas?  Is this even something you look for?  The
question here is whether we're likely to be more susceptible to carb ice when
the new unleaded avgas comes on line.

By the way, I assume we don't need to get STC's to run experimental aircraft
on autogas, do we?  (This question is for everyone, not just ERic)

By the way, for you guys that are getting nervous, my crystal ball says that
the big engines will be usable for a long time.  I don't know what the
technical solution will be, but I'm certain there will be one.  I run an
engine designed for 80/87 that hasn't seen any for a while -- I use a
gasoline additive that makes it all work (Alcor TCP).  There's a big enough
base of users that something will be done.  Don't know what yet, but the
problem can be solved.  Wouldn't surprise me if it's another additive.  Maybe
I'm just burying my head in the sand but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it,
or sell my kit, or anything like that.
