Many of us (including myself) placed healthy deposits ($18,000) on the PMA engine several years back, only to lose our money when Henry Bouley was killed. There are a number of new engine entries now, including Jim Rahm's EngineAir engine, Lightpower and others. I think it is important that we builders share our experiences with these vendors to avoid another PMA misadventure. Along these lines, I would like to have other customer feedback on the EngineAir engine. I have paid 75% of the purchase price for an EngineAir engine and, after almost three years, have yet to receive an engine, much less a delivery date. It took Jim Rahm a year and a half to finish my panel as well. There is nothing experimental about panel construction! While many of Jim Rahm's explanations for his delays in delivery are reasonable and understandable, I am concerned by several inconsistencies in recent discussions with Mr. Rahm. Does he have the ability to deliver a finished engine in a reasonable time frame? I would appreciate it if other EngineAir customers could share their experiences in the forum, including: -when they ordered their engine -whether they have received a delivery date or actual engine -whether they have yet flown behind the engine -whether the engine performs as advertised -what type of delay "stories" they have heard from Mr. Rahm. This sharing of information will ensure that EngineAir customers are better informed about their stake in this engine. Thanks.
