Hi Bill Bradburry -

It's a long story... several years ago, I identified an MSP 340 transducer as a replacement for fuel pressure (injected engines only), tried it and it functioned perfectly. I posted it on the LML, others followed my recommendation, purchased and installed them - all with excellent results. It was a 100 psi unit, with a 100 mV full-scale output, but worked for fuel pressure because it's utilized in the lower 50% of it's range, producing the required 50 mV at 50 psi (the same could have been done for oil pressure, but that would have required a 200 psi unit, which isn't produced).
MSP now offers the US300 series, one version of which is an exact replacement for the MediaMate; however, it's combination of 5 VDC excitation and 50 mV full-scale is, apparently, rarely used in industry and none were available anywhere. I contaced MSP and was told they could be produced, with a minimum quantity of 5. So, I ordered 5 @ 50 psi (fuel pressure) and 5 @ 100 psi (oil pressure). I've installed one of each on my recently overhauled engine (not run yet) and sold the rest to others, telling them not to send payment until they are verified to function as advertised. Whewwwww....

Bill,

Is this sensor actually working in your VMS1000 or are you saying that it should theoretically work?  If it is actually working it seems to me that these less expensive sensors would be the sensors of choice for replacement until such time as the entire VMS1000 system craps out.  Or I guess that is what you are saying??
