Ron, I was going to leave this alone but I just can’t. I tried to be civil and express my concern about how something maybe perceived outside the Lancair community and not about its merit. I never criticized this report. In fact I agree with every word of it. If you want to talk about arrogance or infallible checklists you’re at the wrong place.  If you need to read reports like this to stay safe fine, we all do,  the FAA, AOPA, EAA and a bunch of others have a thousand great articles and videos that cover everything here. They’ll even come to your town every once in awhile and talk about it for free. You can even find informative discussions on safety right here on the LML. If any of this is news to you maybe you should leave the Lancair community until you get sufficient additional training so you’re not the next accident waiting to happen. And just so you don’t miss anything, maybe I’ll do you a favor, I’ll write 28 more pages about those who have killed themselves stalling their Legacy and why the Legacy is flawed, or maybe I’ll write about those who ran their Legacy out of gas and why the Legacy is flawed, or forgot to remove a Pitot cover and why the Legacy is flawed, or those who failed to consider accelerate/stop distances or operated on runways to short for their skills, surely a fault of the Legacy, or those who failed to secure their canopy or those who decided to take friends on first flights or decided their Cessna skills were enough they didn’t need Legacy specific training or those who decided to fly with known mechanical issues, or those who decided to try aerobatics without training, or those who decided their untested modifications were a good idea.  It makes me wonder why they even let us fly this airplane. These are the reasons my insurance is so damn high and none of this has to do with the Legacy. But wait, I know, let’s invent  a low fuel warning indicator, oh got it, how ‘bout canopy warnings, oh yeah got them too. What about a stall warning and airspeed indications that’ new.  Even better I suggest we establish organizations where operators can receive competent instruction, we might call them LOBO or HPAT. I hope this isn’t too harsh.

I apologize to the rest of the community.

Jon
