Recall Adam went from no damage to a lot on one starting event. I agree it was most likely overpriming and an afterfire. Otherwise, he would have had progressive damage over the last 100 hours of operation.

Adam, your pipe looks a little close to the paint.   The first is Ed's and there 
is four inches clearance and the pipe is directed outboard at an angle.  The 
second two photos are mine and there is a downward tip and a few inches.  
Neither of us have problem except some exhaust stains but. Oohing like the 
stains you have.
