2014 Continental MX Clinic-Last Call for Reservations
<image001.jpg>Continental Motors is pleased to invite the Lancair Owners and Builders Organization to an engine maintenance clinic and facility tour from 20 to 22 March, 2014. Continental Motors will provide presentations and hands-on demonstrations of important set-up, maintenance and tuning requirements of Continental aircraft engines at our Fairhope, AL operating area, and will include a tour of our manufacturing facility in Mobile.
In response to this generous offer, LOBO welcomes all Lancair owner/operators to participate with us, whether LOBO members or not. The general plan will be to drive or fly to Sonny Callahan Field (KCQF) in Fairhope AL, to arrive not later than 1700 for a Thursday evening welcome kickoff and seafood dinner at "The Captain's Table," Battleship Park, sponsored by Continental. Rooms are still available at the Hampton Inn Fairhope-Mobile Bay, and Continental will provide shuttle service to and from scheduled events. A detailed schedule/itinerary will be provided this week to those attending. In general, however, the hard-core flying/tinkering types will split into multiple groups on Friday to allow small-party touring the Continental factory in Mobile. We’ll meet as a group with the Continental technical representatives to learn the finer points of tuning and maintaining your aircraft engines, and will all gather for lunch and war stories on Friday and Saturday.
Judy Pastusek is arranging tours for your flying companions to Bellingrath Gardens southwest of Mobile on Friday morning, and then to Mobile's 2014 Festival of Flowers at the Providence Hospital Campus for lunch and an afternoon tour. This year's theme is "British Gardens." Expect a breathtaking display!

We'll plan to drive (or fly to the Edwards Airport-KJKA) for dinner Friday evening at Lulu's on the beach. Lulu is Jimmy Buffett's sister; the place is a hoot!
Saturday's agenda for pilot/owners will include classroom time and engine tuning, with a half day of maintenance training and (weather permitting), a half day of “hands-on” timing and fuel system checks that Continental recommends you conduct during each condition inspection of your aircraft. Traveling companions will be free to shop and tour in the beautiful town of Fairhope, guided by a local resident. The formal agenda will complete in time for you to depart late Saturday afternoon, but most of us plan to stay over to Sunday (or longer).
The registration fee remains $100 per individual or couple, plus $40 per-person admission charges for those attending the Bellingrath Gardens and the Festival of Flowers downtown tours. The LOBO web site,www.lancairowners.com, is set up to accept your registration and payment until 16 March. You may cancel directly with Bob Pastusek until that date for a full refund (rpastusek@htii.com). Due to Continental plant security requirements, no new attendees can be accommodated after 16 March. The Gulf Coast is beautiful this time of year, and the weather is nice! Come join us if you can.
