I assume you are talking about the IV-P. You definitely won't hear anything as a result of the dump switch = itself. That is only controlling a small valve to enable the vacuum to = move the larger valve. Possibly if you hook up the vacuum you can hear = it move but I've never heard it. Visual check or rely on your VOM at = the valve?
