It was spotless for 400hrs. Then without explanation after an oil change ( I usually change the oil myself, but this one was by my A&P) I noticed a drop that would form on the plug itself. I removed the safety wire and found that the nut was reasonabley snug, but not as tight as I usually tighten it. I tightened it resafety wired it and it still leaked. At the next oil change I got a new copper crush washer and replaced the old one and tightened it to 18lbs of torque. To my disappointment it was still leaking the next day. It is a slow drip that takes probably a few hours to reform ( I have never hung around to time it). My A&P told me to tighten it down to about 50lbs. torque, but I was concerned about stripping the threads so I only tightened to 18lbs. Anyone encountered this before or have any suggestions?
