Jeremy,
I had a leak the same situation on my left wing aft corner for the strap
bolting onto the stub wing. I attempted a syringe full of epoxy injected
into the bolt hole into the foam, replaced the strap and bolts and it did
not work. Don Geotze said epoxy both bolts into the holes and mark on the
plane "Do not remove these bolts". I did as he stated. No leaks and works
fine. If you are concerned about exposy on bolt threads try using a lower
strength LockTite. That is also an epoxy based threadlocker. I do not know
its ability to withstand fuel but the alternative of cutting into the wing
for the extra pleasure of possibly removing four bolts to remove the
belcrank brackets which you may never need to remove seems pretty severe.
Let me know what you decide.
Remember the plane is covered with fiberglass, I had foam behind the leaking
block but the spar and rib had at least two bid of glass which is impervious
to fuel. Trapped fuel in the foam should be no problem. Fuel leaking out
and being stored in the bellcrank bay and fumes flowing down the pushrod
tube into the cockpit is another thing.
