Sounds like good advice.
I’ll buy a set. Because of some great recommendations, I’ve altered a couple sockets to avoid having to remove the pipes, so things are going more cleanly than expected.

Regarding replacing IO-550 air intake pipe gaskets:
I had to remove one air intake pipe to remove my magneto for a 500 hour magneto IRAN. The thin gasket between the bell end of the intake pipe and the cylinder head tore in half as I removed the intake pipe. I had about six years and 550 hours on my IO-550 engine. The TCM part number for a new gasket is 649950 and they are available from Aircraft Spruce. Maybe you'll be lucky and can reuse the old gaskets, but they're cheap and having spares on hand might be helpful.
