Reverse is usually the same as beta, but adds RPM while controlling blade angle directly through the low pitch stop/ring. As to Beta vs Reverse, every airplane is different based on prop type, speed envelope, oh shit factors, ect.. But Alpha is positive thrust, and beta is not.
