I am a Lycoming-only guy and am curious why the Continental requires external controls for oil temperature.  In the Lycoming the vernatherm controls the oil temperature very precisely until the cooling system is maxed out - very much like thermostat in your car.  Does the Continental not have a similar internal control?Chris ZavatsonN91CZ360stdhttp://www.n91cz.net/

I would second and third previous recommendations to have an oil door
with cockpit control.  I use it all the time closed when first
starting and taxi helps it warm faster and depending on day and season
find that I sue it to fine tune the temp.
