Technologically advanced panels have space.  Install a switch that requires a key, label it "TOW BAR LOCATOR" or "MEMORY JOGGLER".  Or, install a low tech receptacle for the tow bar pin and label it "PIN."  Add the chosen system to your SIRI-query driven preflight checklist.

PS Flight #62 successfully completed with tow bar,  Easily tucked into wheel well with no more than handle protruding in trail, thus yielding low drag.  Upon landing, prop tip removed bouncing tow bar (only one blade damaged).  The tow bar just remained attached at the hole since the locking mechanism was freed by the spinning tire at take off.
