I installed the Headsets Inc kit in my DC 13.4S headsets about 4
years ago (soon after the kit was available). Installation took about 3
hours and is fairly easy if you have some skill with a soldering iron. They
have been knocked around quite a bit since then, but have been completely
trouble free.
I also have the Bose X, and have used various Lightspeeds. I find
the ANR Module perfomance in the 13.4's to be very good, and have not
noticed "deadening out" of useful aircraft noises. The only drawback seems
to be some small loss of passive noise cancelation if the ANR is not used
(due to a removal of some original components). I use the panel mounted
power supply.
I would highly recommend the ANR kit based on my experience.
However; on trips
over 4 hours, give me my Bose X's!
