Does the countersink appear that there was a screw in place when the punch was done?? Bill -----Original Message----- From: Lancair Mailing List [mailto:lml@lancaironline.net] On Behalf Of Paul Miller Sent: Tuesday, June 04, 2013 4:06 PM To: lml@lancaironline.net Subject: [LML] Check your gascolators Upon removal of the gascolator for a stuck filter cup, we discovered the unit was almost fully failed and about to dump the inlet fuel line into the engine compartment. Only the air shroud was holding the unit together. Staining was evident but hidden under the shroud. The factory screws were either missing or loose and the remaining screws were all loose. There appears to be a peen mark perhaps to lock the screws but that does not work. I will submit an SDR but I am suggesting anyone using the ANDAIR GASCOLATOR to either visibly look for those screws and staining on the inside of the shroud or just remove and inspect from the firewall. 700 hours on unit.
