The first is the metal. I bought the cheapest= one Aircraft Spruce sells. It's red anodized and is OK if you're not openi= ng oil filters on a daily basis. I'd buy it again but the worst thing is th= at the cutting disk does not have a threaded stud but rather uses one of tho= se one way retainer washers that tries to grip a smooth shaft. The first fe= w times I used it, the washer would walk up the shaft and come off. Seems t= o have settled in now. The other cutter is for the element. I am not impressed with the one I boug= ht from AC Spruce. It's a Matt knife attached to a handle with semi circula= r guide to try to steer the blade through the accordion pleats of the elemen= t. Maybe a sharp box cutter would be just as good, because the pleats get a= ll caught up in the blade, the blade goes too deep and jams on the metal etc= etc. Regards, John Barrett Sent from my iPad On May 16, 2013, at 3:35 PM, "Greenbacks, UnLtd." wrote: > Hey, is an oil filter cutter of choice out there? > Aircraft Spruce has too many choices! >=20 > Angier Ames > N4ZQ > 1st oil change >=20 > -- > For archives and unsub http://mail.lancaironline.net:81/lists/lml/List.htm= l
