Angier,
I used doubleside tape to attach the trim tab. Didn't rough up either
surface, but I wiped them clean with a solvent.

Re silicone, I see Mark has also recommended
the same.
I'll do some experiments with silicone between a clear coated
surface and aluminum.
Seems as though scuffing up both surfaces would be
appropriate.
Has experience shown this to be unnecessary with
silicone?
