Rob,

The idea is to keep the brackets squared and aligned whilst installing the pivots on the tank and the receivers on the canopy.  Step 92-94, using a 2x4 is so crude..  There is a hole in each bracket (there was in mine) that would allow a long threaded rod to secure a piece of 3/4" (or so) Al tubing, cut at a length (15 3/4" ?) to correctly keep those brackets separated and square because you used a tube cutter.  Place the tube betwixt the brackets.  Thus a jig, so to speak, used to make sure everything will allow the canopy to be squarely raised and lowered plus ensure the capturing of each end of the brackets will be properly located.

Once you are all done, the "brace" can be removed.

Bummer, my pics are not handy.

A question for those who have installed the forward hinged canopy.

I have a copy of the “Lancair 320 Canopy supplement” which I am using to install the forward hinged canopy on my L360. On page 24 of this supplement, it attempts to describe a method of holding the hinge brackets on a piece of 2 X 4 to simplify the positioning of these brackets in the hinge pockets of the header tank. Hard as I might try, I just cannot grasp what they are trying to describe.

I was wondering if anybody out there might have some photographs or sketches of this procedure which might get me on the right track.

As always, I really appreciate all the help I get on this site.

Regards.
