Berni,
I guess we've all built the jack pads pictured in the builder's manual on page 1-45 but the more common arrangement is to screw a jack pad into the same threaded hole that's used for the tiedown rings. In my case, the jacks that I bought from Spruce have 1" diameter cups on top, and the ideal jack pad is the sort of thing shown at http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/bogertjacks2.php:

However, I haven't bought these yet, they're probably much bigger and heavier than we need. Lancair in one of their hangars in Redmond had the perfect set of pads, 1" stainless (?) spheres with a threaded rod out one end, but I couldn't find out where they got them. The idea of a spherical pad is that no matter how the airplane tips, it doesn't want to slide off the jack.
If anyone knows where to get 1" spherical jack pads, I'd buy a couple immediately.

For those Legacy pilots on the list...do you have any provisions to accommodate jacking your airplane in the event of a flat tire while at an airport other than your home base? If so, what are those provisions?
I had a flat on my main co-pilot side today and did not have anything with me to address the situation. I was at a very friendly airport in Mobile, Alabama ((KBFM) and they (Southern Avionics) took care of everything in a matter of a few minutes, but if I would have been elsewhere...
