The magnetic reed switches were all okay, it was the flap motor jamming against its fully retracted stop and then not being able to reverse without overloading the relay and popping the CB. I disconnected the flap motor from the flap mechanism (I have the torque tube system) and re-set the adjustment so that the flap motor had about 1/2" of rod showing when the 'up' magnetic reed switch stopped the motor. This means that the 'down' direction of the motor is instantaneous rather than having to struggle to un-jam it self. I recommend that, when you fit the flap motor, all adjustments are carried out to place the motor in a position so that at least 1/4" of flap motor pushrod is extended with the flaps fully up. I hope this is understandable because it took me a fair amount of time to puzzle it out! I am very grateful, as always, for the LML's help in solving this conundrum.
