Lorn,

Thanks for the reply but your answer is not what I asked. I need to know if anybody is flying the 68" blades with a modify 200+ HP 360. Hartzel's website states the prop with the 68" blades is for the 180 hp 360. They have the 200hp with 72" blades. I have talked to Hartzell and they say the prop is good to 300hp as you have mention and they dought that the prop is on the stops. My governor is new old stock. I am trying to avoid removing and sending in the governor for OH until I know for certain it is the governor or the prop is on the stops.(I don't want to fix what is not broken) If I pull the power back to match a 180 hp 360 I have no problem pulling the prop back to slower RPM's.

Today I flew to Durango Colorado with a Legacy at 17,500. I was able to pull 16.5 " MP WOT and 2300 rpm is all I could bring the prop back to. When I flew to Sun-in-fun in March I cruised at 17,500  I had to pull back to 14" to get the prop rpm's down to 2000, I did not try that today as I was pushing to keep up with the Leagcy.

So I was hoping there is another 360 with a 200+HP with the 68" blades that can comment on his rpm control at high altitude? I have no problem at lower altitudes.

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES.

Steve,

Governors control the prop speed, just about, no matter what the horsepower or
speed that you have, except in exceptional situations.

Exceptional Situations:

1) Oil pressure is not getting to the governor and then to the prop.
2) You have enough horsepower to break the prop (with your plane at least 300
HP).
3) You have enough speed to go past the fixed prop stops (over 300 kts).

In all honesty, I haven't done the exact calculations on the above speed and HP.

If you are not in one of these exceptional situations, have the governor checked
by a mechanic that knows how to adjust it, or send it for an overhaul to:

	H & S Propeller Shop Inc
	8220 Old White Lake Rd
	White Lake Mi 48386-1154

	800-323-0217

Tell Bryan or Mark that I sent you.

I had an overspeed and the first thing that I did was to have the governor
overhauled. I did have 1,000 hours on the plane at the time. Much less and an
adjustment should do.

Lorn

blades. I need to know if you guys with the higher HP can bring your RPM's down
to say 2000 or so while running full throttle at altitude of 12,000 to 17,500. I
have to pull back power in order to bring the rpms down at alitude of 12,000 +.
