Tracy is concerned about increasing the lengh of the cowl. My thoughts are;
It is much, much easier than building an new elongated cowl from Lancair
and a whole lot cheaper to just do it yourself. I found it to be one of the
simpler fixes that I did when building my slo-build 320. It is basically a
matter of afixing some 1/4" Clark Foam to the outside and applying 3 layers
of glass to the inside. After 5 years, there is still no visible line on my
cowl where the addition was made.If you want detailed instructions, call me
at 707-923-2432 and I'll fill you in. It really is a piece of cake. I also
did one for my hanger partner, Brian Winterberg .Also came out great. I
would think it would not be more than a 15 to 20 hour job. A new cowl about
50 to 75 hours. Sincerely, Fred N9BF don'y fly like my brother.
P.S. Hope to see some of you local guys at the Golden West Fly-in in
Sacramento, Ca Sept. 8,9,and 10
