Question: is it a reasonable practice to use the high boost for engine cooling? How long can it run in high boost without getting damaged?

We recommend using high boost on each climb through 10k.  Leave the boost pump on for AT LEAST 30 minutes after reaching cruise until the fuel in the tanks has a chance to cool.  It will not hurt the pump as they are designed to run continuously.
