Congratulations!
Other than being shot at and missed, there is nothing quite so gratifying as a successful first flight.

Subject: [LML] First Flight N921DR
After much blood sweat and tears (and the blood stains are in the aircraft to prove it), N921DR Lancair IV kit 91 took to the air this morning at about 7:15 am. I was frankly amazed at how smoothly it lifted and how stable it was and the 2000 ft per minute climb out was nice (and that was with the gear hanging in the wind). Not squak free, but a safe flight with a good outcome. Having never built a plane before I have to give credit where it is due. Thanks to Micah Froese for teaching me during the building of his Legacy, and for all the flight time in his Legacy. When it came to taking off and landing the IV, I was confident in the outcome. I had seen that sight picture and those airspeeds and it seemed natural thanks to Micah and his patience training me. Thanks also to Eric Demarray who joined Micah in the chase plain and was a great sounding board for me during construction due to his previous build of two Lancair IV's. And thanks to Charlie Kohler for his thorough inspection and more important all his wise counsel on how to fly and maintain the IV. I probably should have been more nervous but it really just felt like another flight in Micah's Legacy. The plane has exceeded my expectations. Having a four place plane that can fly with a Legacy down low is amazing. I told Micah that if the IV flew half as good as his plane, I would be pleased. I am definitely pleased.
