I rather grew up with Harry in the Lancair family, having met him in Redmond in 2004 even before taking delivery on my ES-P kit. Harry was indeed the perfectionist. He allowed no detail either in advice on building or in the execution of that advice to go unquestioned. Harry always wanted to know why something was to be done and then accomplished that task to the best of his rather ample ability. He’d check, he re-checked, and he checked again every task. It took Harry extra years longer of full-time work but his aircraft was the best he could make it. There was no acceptance of something being “good enough”. It was perfect or it was re-done.
Although I did not work often directly with Pat he was responsible for some of the test flights when my plane was 95% done and 35% to go. He helped make my plane better and safer. The loss of these two people leaves our lives less rich. They will be missed.
