Hi Tom,

I would buy them from lancair. They have the best price on the bearings you want (the Teflon lined). Other places were higher for the same part.

 Easy to replace. Use two sockets and a long bolt. One socket is larger than the bearing race, second socket is just smaller than race OD. Bolt goes through both sockets and when you tighten the bearing is pushed into the larger socket from the smaller socket side. Then clean bearing boss and new bearing outer race, insp everything, reinstall in reverse order using loctite, making sure to center bearing into housing. After installation rotate bearing and feel for any "hard spots" or roughness.

 When reinstalling flt control make sure bolt clamps up tight on bearing shoulder and does not spin on bolt. You might need some thin washers to shim the bearing on each side so you don't side load the fitting "ears".

 I have changed about 8 or 10 bearings on the one I am flying/maintaining. The turbine's are bad about the outboard elevator bearings wearing out. We have changed the outboard elev. bearings twice. The first set was 175 hours since new. They wear really fast. I pull all of the flight controls off every year and inspect very well every year at the Annual Condition inspection. That way I can check all of the bearings and see the rear spar properly. Proper maintenance saves money and lives.
