When I said 3M Scotch Blue painter's tape, they said no problem so I coughed up $5 at Home Depot and came back to the shop with high hope and great excitement...Bottom line, GOO had no effect.
Motsenbocker's is much better than Goo, but either way, you've got to be really patient with the old adhesive, and give it time to work.
