I installed a night vision camera under my right wing on my ES-P. Molded the case into the outer aileron bell crank cover, so no new holes were needed. Using an existing opening allowed me to tuck some of the camera mass into the wing. See attached photo of raw camera install and cover in primer. I purchased the camera from FLIR systems for $2500 (their aviation grade unit - 30 fps) and display the image on my G900 MFD.
I decided to add it for three reasons. First is the safety factor of being able to see at night during a potential forced landing. All of the roads are very visible, even on a moonless night (unfortunately the telephone poles are harder to see :-). I have also heard it makes it easier to pick an altitude between cloud layers on a dark night. The final reason is that I thought it would be cool!
I angled the camera so that the horizon on the image is the same as the horizon on the PFD.

Hello All,
Its a quiet night here and I'm just surfing around the web looking at some aviation videos and I came across some EVS (Forward Vision and Max-Vis) systems -- there are probably others as well. I'm wondering if anyone has anything like this installed on their Lancair? Any comments on if you'd install one again? Price range?
Regards,
Dico
