Recommend you put a reasonable number of hours on the plane while in primer for many reasons.
Also, I removed the wings and made a simple rotisserie which made it much easier to paint the wings, also the body.
Don't forget to rebalance the rudder, ailerons, and elevators after you paint. The weight of the paint is appreciable.
I bonded all the surfaces on my IV and added static wicks. Not sure it's needed on the 2. Maybe someone else will advise here.
Anyway, sounds like you covered most of the bases. Be careful of the paint as it is nasty stuff.
