I think Jimmy must have been motivated by that spin-through it-recover technique, and was the first to fly and land partial panel, under the hood, if I remember correctly.
In the good old days didn't they used to fly the A-N ranges and approaches partial panel?

Here's an idea - get a smartphone with gyroscope, get one of the apps that visualizes gyroscope data (they even have artificial horizon apps) wrap it around your basebar, and you got an emergency system to keep you flyingstraight if you get into cloud suck and lost all reference. ___________ |
