Now for the worse news. Allan needs to tear down and inspect the engine or
risk the Feds grounding the plane and his insurance company dropping
coverage due to the "airworthyness" clause.
Both Continental and Lycoming have CYA ADs that specify anything greater
than a nick on the prop is cause for inspection. A fellow LIV driver landed
without a nose wheel down (roll pin problem) with the engine stopped and an
MT propeller (wood). No sudden stoppage and the crank dialed flat but the
FAA is insistent on a tear down, experimental or not. Many sad faces.
