Another question: I received exchange starter adapter for the Legacy. I hoisted the engine to remove the starter adapter. Then removed damaged factory new starter adapter that had only 530 hours. This photo is one of the two bottom studs holding the starter adapter to the case. The thread damage must be from engine manufacture as no work has ever been done to the adapter. I've also had a small persistent oil leak from this area so I suspect it never got torqued properly as this damage would be in the area the nut engages the stud.
Should I use washers to stay away from this thread damage or should I go to the trouble of replacing this stud. I'm certain TCM will never take responsibility although I should send them the photo anyway. Thoughts appreciated again.
