I bought my LNC2-360 about 2 ½ years ago and have had intermittent
problems with my VM1000 all along. I finally got tired of it all and
decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to the JPI-930 engine analyzer.
The reason for my sending this email is to let you know that the transition was
real easy and painless. As you know JPI owns the VM-1000 system and
they’re doing their best to support it as much as possible, however,
there’s so much you can do for these old systems. The JPI people
were extremely friendly and helpful with my transition. The only obstacle
was enlarging the panel a little bit to accommodate the new screen. This
can be done by any radio or machine shop. The rest is very simple and
easy to do. It took me about 2 days to remove the old system and the same
amount to install the new system. The final installation was much cleaner
and a lot less cluttered than before with a 2 to 3 pounds of weight
savings. JPI staff worked with me on the fuel tank probe mystery
and provided a lot of support.
I have spoken to JPI and they’ve initiated a factory
upgrade for the VM-1000 users which includes all parts required to replace the
old system with all new parts, sans fuel probes, at a special promotional rate
of $3,500.00, same system sells for $4,933 from Aircraft Spruce. This is
a great deal and makes a perfect upgrade for anyone who has a VM-1000. To
take advantage of this offer, you can call Kristy at JPI, 800.345.4574.
Make sure to let her know that you’re looking for the upgrade
program. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or
pictures of the upgrade.
